Cooperation with ClimateNuts: more than just CO₂ offsetting
We are delighted about our new partnership with the innovative climate start-up ClimateNuts. Together, we are focusing on an approach that goes far beyond the usual purchase of CO₂ certificates: climate protection that simultaneously strengthens local social communities and enables sustainable change in the “Impact Villages” in Sierra Leone.
In recent years, we have already voluntarily offset our reported greenhouse gas emissions with CO₂ certificates. ClimateNuts’ Impact Villages concept has now convinced us that this is also possible in a more sustainable way and with a greater social impact.
Why ClimateNuts and not traditional CO₂ certificates?
While traditional CO₂ certificates are often just abstract calculation models, ClimateNuts offers a tangible, transparent and holistic alternative. The approach goes far beyond mere offsetting and simultaneously creates social and ecological added value:
- Climate protection that connects: ClimateNuts reforestation is a multi-talent – it reduces CO₂, protects biodiversity and supports local communities.
- Innovative transparency: With the Treeo app, we can track the CO₂ binding per tree precisely and transparently.
- Sustainable impact: Our support goes directly to where it is needed – to the village communities, who decide for themselves how investments are used for their development. This ranges from organic chicken farms to solar energy for irrigation systems – all selected and co-designed by the local people.
- Tangible results: Progress reports allow us to experience the positive effects of this partnership at first hand. Personal contact with company founder Christoph Schaaf and his reports from the Impact Villages also make the collaboration very lively and the impact of the work on the ground tangible. We are happy to support this!
