Databases and especially interfaces (application programming interfaces or APIs for short) have become indispensable in application development. Even though both components operate exclusively in the background and never come into direct contact with the user, they are an essential component of almost every web application: they provide all the important data and functions for the respective application in order to create an optimal user experience.
A database is at the heart of any complex web application. It stores all relevant data, such as user accounts, orders or texts or translations. Due to these functions, a database is already designed and realised during development to be clear, functional and robust against possible errors. All elements and connections of the database are documented and checked several times by different developers before implementation.
Multifunctional applications with the help of interfaces (APIs)
With the help of APIs (application programming interfaces), existing systems can be connected to websites, apps or web-based tools through defined data exchange. By digitising the transmission path, for example between a website and the CRM system on the customer side, processes are completely automated. For example, the registration data of newsletter subscribers find their way into a customer database after a successful opt-in.
This way also works the other way round: APIs can be used to access internal company information such as current order status or master data.
We help you to unite different systems and optimise processes in this way.
